On Friday, I hit my adjusted lifetime goal on Weight Watchers. My Body Mass Index (BMI) is within a healthy range of 20-25. That's good, because a BMI that exceeds 25 can increase your risk of health problems. Back in January, 2009 I started Weight Watchers with my sister, mom and aunt. I weighed in 30 pounds heavier. I eventually stopped going to the meetings then last October 2010, I decided it was time to get to goal. I had 14 pounds to go and was determined to do it.
In reviewing my weight tracker, since September 16, 2011, I was able to drop 7 pounds. I mainly attribute this to the following:
Now please remember this is what worked for me. I was so hell-bent on getting to goal that I had to really dig deep and FOCUS. For me, that meant I always had to be prepared with meals. I've gotten into the habit of always packing a snack with me. An apple and carefully portioned out almonds (7 for 1 point).
Its hard to make good food choices when your in a hurry, or have to make a quick decision (when not much else is offered). Just like gassing up our cars, we want the best fuel to make our cars run more efficiently, get better mileage and take care of the insides.
I have been replacing one meal a day with Shakeology. It gives me the nutrition I want and need to start my day. It has helped me control my cravings and satisfy my need for chocolate.
My workouts have become very important to me. Since embarking upon my most recent hybrid of P90X and TurboFire, I started with the Inferno Plan and was able to revamp my meals and decided to decrease the amount of dairy I was consuming. I willingly gave up eating cheese (except for the occasional slice of Smart Beat Lactose Free American Cheese slice); and will only eat Cottage Cheese, because I really like it. No milk, only unsweetened Almond Milk, and no Greek yogurt.
Reaching my goal has opened my eyes in so many ways. I realized that believing in myself was crucial in accomplishing what I wanted. It has taken a while but not giving up is what helped me reach my goal.
